San Antón, el patrón de la Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de Elda, nació en Coma, Egipto, en el siglo III y aunque pertenecía a una rica familia, vendió sus pertenencias, repartió el dinero entre los pobres, y se marchó a vivir en soledad, a un humilde refugio cerca del Nilo con la única compañía de los animales (de ahí que se le considere su protector)?
"Si quieres ser perfecto, ve y vende todo lo que tienes y dalo a los pobres" (Son las palabras de Jesús que escuchó San Antonio Abad).

was born in the town of Coma, Egypt, in the 3rd century AD and despite of descending from a wealthy family, he decided to sell his properties, give the money to the poor and live in a simple lodge on his own by the Nile with the only company of animals ( and that's why now he is considered to be a holy protector of them) ?

La iglesia ortodoxa / The Orthodox Church

Queremos felicitar a nuestros compañeros griegos por el magnífico trabajo realizado sobre el cristianismo ortodoxo a través de la Presentación en Power Point en la que de una manera didáctica y sencilla se explican los principales dogmas y la historia de la iglesia ortodoxa en Grecia. ¡Felicidades, Giorgio, por tu excelente trabajo! Lo hemos puesto en la caja de descargas para que pueda ser consultado por todos los visitantes del blog que quieran saber más acerca de esta religión. Es un magnífico ejemplo de cómo a través de lo local (la iglesia de Xanthi con imágenes de sus objetos y su decoración) se puede conocer mejor las prácticas religiosas ortodoxas.
Nos ha parecido tan interesante que vamos a intentar realizar un trabajo semejante sobre nuestras iglesias católicas en Elda.

We want to congratulate our Greek partners for the excellent work done about Orthodox Christianity in their Power Point Presentation in which in a very simple and pedagogic way they explain the main principles and the history of the Orthodox Church in Greece. Congratulations, Giorgio, for your excellent work! It has been placed in the download box so that any visitor of the blog interested in the subject can get to it. It is a very good example of how through the concrete (the church in Xanthi with its objects and decoration) we can learn about the Orthodox religious practices.
It is so interesting for us that we are trying to do something similar about our Catholic churches in Elda.
