BIENVENIDA / WELCOME

Más sobre Xanthi / More about Xanthi

Our second day in Xanthi started with a visit to a Secondary School. We were kindly taken there by our host, George, and were welcomed by the headmaster, Mr. George Kermanidis and a group of teachers who very nicely showed us around the building answering to all our questions. We would like to thank them all from here for their pleasing attention and encourage them to keep contact, in a next Comenius Project, Why not?
Later, we went on our official coach to the “Municipality”, that is the way in which George calls the Vistonida Commonwealth where we were welcomed by the Mayor. Actually, Xanthi is the biggest town among several villages which surround it. We had met The Mayor, a very friendly person indeed, the previous evening at the school festival. He gave us all the information we requested about the area and his task as a Mayor. He told us he was a farmer acquainted to most people and sometimes he could could not fix a timetable and have leisure time for himself, as people felt free to call him whenever they had a problem.
After signing in the visitors’ book being taken the “institutional” photo at the Townhall main entrance, we left for lunch at a beautiful restaurant on the top of a hill from which we had a splendid view of Xanthi. It was the “official” meal, a farewell hommage offered by our Greek friends. Once more, thanks George, thanks Ewie, for your company and your good disposition. And thanks also for that fantastic Greek musaka you gave us and we plentifully tasted later at the hotel.
