Our Main Festivities

Este video muestra los larguísimas sesiones de maquillaje a las que tienen que someterse los capitanes y abanderadas de las comparsas de moros y cristianos de Elda. En este caso se trata de los líderes de la comparsa "Moros Marroquíes" y van vestidos como si pertenecieran a una tribu africana. La vistosidad de los trajes está en función de dar la mayor espectacularidad posible a la fiesta. Cada año los festeros se esfuerzan por ser más creativos y por sorprender al público y para ello dedican horas y horas de trabajo, reuniones y ensayos. Especialmente las abanderadas y capitanes tienen la responsabilidad de dejar en buen lugar a sus comparsas, por eso no escatiman en dedicación ni tampoco en presupuesto. Todo sea por la fiesta.


This video shows the very long make-up sessions the female and male leaders (Abanderada and Capitán) of the groups (comparsas) taking part in the Moors and Christians festivities have to endure for the cause of being as authentic as possible. In this case they are the leaders of the Moroccan Moors group and they are dressed as members of an African tribe. The costumes are spectacularly colourful so as to give the celebration as much brightness as possible. Each year the participants try to be more creative and surprise the public, and it takes them long hours of work, meetings and rehearsing. Abanderadas and Capitanes, the leaders, are responsible for the reputation of the whole group and do not care about dedicating time, effort or money for the occasion. Everything is done for the sake of the celebration.
